DOCUMENTARY FILM-MAKING

 

 

 

 

Hoa-Lan Tran is currently editing two documentary films she has recorded on ÒThe Art of Vietnamese Hand-Made Paper-Making and ÒThe Art of Traditional Wood-Block/Vietnamese PrintmakingÓ. Traditional Vietnamese arts and crafts are currently being threatened by the efficiencies of modern commercial technology.

 

We visited the village of Dong Ho in northern Vietnam to learn more about the traditional Vietnamese art of wood-block carving and printmaking.  We visited the house of Nguyen Xuan Manh, master-carver, and learned the traditional techniques from him.
