- About the Artists

 

Hoa-Lan Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam.  Michael Clark was born in Sinclair, Wyoming.  In 1977, Michael moved to Eugene, Oregon and began working with the Architecture Department at the University of Oregon.  In 1989, Hoa-Lan came to Eugene, Oregon to study Fine Arts and Architecture at the University of Oregon.  Michael Clark and Hoa-Lan Tran met in fall 1989 and have been together ever since.  They were married in 1995.

 

Both are artists and share their creative inspiration in the fine arts.  Hoa-Lan Tran is also a practicing architect, interior architect, and is currently teaching architecture classes at the University of Oregon.  She  is involved in editing two documentary films on traditional Vietnamese arts and crafts as well. 

 

Michael Clark is also a writer, who has written novels, poetry, a collection of short-stories. 

 

Hoa-Lan and Michael have traveled to Vietnam extensively over the last fourteen years and have many friends in Vietnam in the arts, architecture, education, music and literature in Hanoi (North), Hue and Hoi-An (Central), and Saigon (South).
